Hello crafters, Craftyfield here with my second make inspired by Tim Holtz.

March 2017 - Inspired By Tim Holtz

Welcome everyone to our March Challenge and our newest Design Team member Miriam.
Our theme this month is "Inspired by Tim Holtz", chosen by the lovely Craftyfield.
Whether you are inspired by Tim Holtz's products, his style, or his techniques (or all three!) your make will be perfect for this challenge.

Craftyfield

Being technique mad and interested in the latest crafty supplies, Tim Holtz is one of my crafting heroes. He created the Distress inks, brought back products we had forgotten about (Marker Spritzer, Micro Glaze... re-invented products (the collage brush) and generally pushed the limits for manufacturers to give us new possibilities.

My first make is very much in the style of Tim and with a lot of his products but not all!
It's alright, the master himself would tell you to use what you have... Do come by to see my step by step on my blog.

There can't be many crafters who haven't been inspired by Tim Holtz in one way or another. Whether it be his inks and paints, or his stamp sets and dies. I love his grunge, but I also love his pretty stamps, and these butterflies are one of my favourite sets.  There's lots more pictures over on at Sue The Iron
Have a fun week xx

I just fell in love with Tim's new 'Tiny Houses' die and just had to have a play for this fabulous challenge from Christine, but I also used lots of his other products as well. If you'd like to see more details and what else of Tim's inspired me for this project please pop over to Bumblebees and Butterflies and find out how these Spring inspired flower houses came together.

Hello All, it's Monika here and I have brought you an oval shaped wooden box for our March challenge: Be inspired by Tim Holtz.
If you like my crackled wooden box and if you want to know how I made it, please hop on my blog for a step by step tutorial with many photos. Thanks!

I love all things Tim and one of my favourite dies of his that I own is the weathered clock die..sadly long discontinued. Tim always encourages us to create "outside the box" and embrace our own unique creativity so I wanted to show that Tim's inspiration doesn't have to be all browns and grunge. I have made a feminine card for today, my 2nd inspiration piece, later in the month will be male. I have a step by step over on my  blog here if you would like to see how I made the metallic background and elements. A warm girlie Tim Inspired welcome awaits you there.

Bye for now,

Miriam

Since I started crafting I have been inspired by Tim Holtz, so when I saw the theme I was really excited!

You can see how I created this card by popping over to my Blog.

I hope my card inspires you to join in with the challenge and show how Tim Holtz has inspired you!

Thanks for popping by!
Miriam

Inspired by Tim Holtz? I know I am - so much so I had to ask my daughters for help with this challenge! I just didn't know where to start - but I finished with this tag ... you can find further details on my blog here. I hope you can join us!

Cherish by Corrie

The challenge "Inspired by Tim Holtz' should be an easy one for many as almost everyone in has some Tim stuff in their stash. I am very inspired by him and I dug out all my Tim-goodies for this little canvas.
This was a very enjoyable project and if you would like to know how I made this then please hop over to my BLOG for a photo tutorial.
Have fun everyone !

This definitely took me a lot longer than our 30 minute rule from last month. I think that I might win a prize for the most time faffing about rearranging everything on this piece, inspired by Tim Holtz.
If you would like details of this Doily inspired piece, then please visit my blog.

I think many of us have been inspired by Tim over the years and I wanted to use some of my older stamps that I don't use very often. It was lovely using these old stamps - I really enjoyed inking them up! I used Distress Inks for the background, a stencil and three of Tim's stamp sets. As always, there are more details on my blog. Tim Holtz is such a great source of inspiration! So many supplies and techniques are developed by him, so it was not hard to find something to make, "inspired by Tim".
I decided to make a birthday card, using Alcohol Inks, which I didn´t use for a long time.
If you want to see, which technique I used, hop over to my blog!

Wow some fantastic projects from our Design Team. So it's over to you now, create your project and link it below with the chance to win a £20 voucher to use on the Country View Crafts website. Thanks to everyone who took up the Time Challenge last month. Time To Say Farewell

This is a sad post for me today as I step down from the Design Team here at Country View Challenges. I have had a wonderful four years making all manner of projects and have worked alongside a wonderful team of amazingly creative people.

Rather than sharing a project today I thought I would share three of my favourite makes for CVC.

This was my very first project as Guest Designer in May 2013 for the How Does Your Garden Grow Challenge. The following month I made my debut as part of the DT!  The shadow box still sits on the shelf by my desk and brightens even the dullest of days!

Another project which also sits by my desk and is a great favourite - made for the Bugs, Bees and Butterflies challenge in November 2014.

And finally I don't know how many flowers I have made over the last four years but these are probably my favourites - blousy summer blooms made for the  Summertime challenge in August 2015.  Here's a link to the tutorial on my blog if you would like to have a go.

I shall certainly miss being here at CVC and seeing all your wonderful projects, but I am also looking forward to having some more time to experiment with new products and of course develop more flowers which I really love to make.  I am sure I shall see you around somewhere in bogland!

A huge thank you to Susan and all the present (and past) Design Team members who have been so wonderful to work with.

Best wishes and Happy Crafting!

Using scraps to save time

Hello it's Jane here today sharing my second piece to hopefully inspire you to enter our time challenge this month; making something in 30 minutes or less. You still have a week to enter and join in with the fun. I chose to make a card again, using lots of scraps that I keep as left overs from other projects. The painted central mdf flower was even recycled from a previous project.
If you would like to see how I sourced my scraps and put this together...I even timed myself whilst making it....do pop over to my blog here where a time saving  warm welcome awaits you. Get that stop watch out 😁

Bye for now,

Masculine card in under 30 minutes?

Hi Everyone, Brenda here with a card for a man that I really did manage to get finished within the 30 minutes deadline for this challenge.

Having boxes of bits of all sorts is really handy to have when you want to get something made pretty fast and getting a man's card done has got to be an achievement as we all find them difficult right?
So pop over to Bumblebees and Butterflies to see how this one came to fruition and how useful those discarded elements can be.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Multiple Personalities

I am loving this 30 minute challenge this month! I am really thankful that I've not tidied my studio in yonks so I have so much to hand to play with so I've not had to waste time searching for anything!
For this page in my Dylusions Journal I used a similar technique as I did on my first project this month and expanded on it! To make sure I stayed within the time limit I stamped my chaps on book paper and resisted the urge to colour them in! That was a lot harder than I thought! The hats were Dylusion stamps - a combination of hats and bunting turned upside down! I timed myself and this page took me 29 minutes - phew! Just made it in time!
If you would like to see a step by step guide on how I made this then please pop over to my blog.
Hope you feel inspired to join in with us this month,
Gabrielle x

Oh my goodness 292 entries to look through and make decisions on who are to to be the Top 3 and the DT special mention. This was a hugely difficult job with so many entries so I gave myself some focus areas to help me narrow it down. I decided I wanted a mixed media piece as the special mention (just because that's what I love doing at the moment) and then for the top 3 I would look for something vintage, something made in what I call a journal style and then something I find hugely difficult to do which is the 'less is more' style.

So here goes -

DTSM

I really love the textured backgrounds, the beautiful focal elements and the gorgeous mixed media layers on these fabulous tags.

Top 3 in no special order -

I was drawn to the beautiful tones of blue and the contrasting white of the embossed stamping on this journaling style project.

I adore this vintage card where Nicola has used vintage patterned papers and then added just some subtle embellishments to add that special elegant yet vintage shabby appeal.

Even this proved difficult choosing a LIM card but I opted for Kathy's card not just for the fabulous simple design but also because she spends time stamping the back of the card, the inside and the envelope to make it very special for the recipient.

Fantastic work all around!  Congratulations - your badges will be on their way soon, and we hope you'll display them with pride.

And if you have a spare 30 minutes, don't forget there is still lots of time to enter our February Challenge
