Postcard from New York

Hello Everyone and thank you for joining us again today. Jennie here with my second project of our "blue" month.

I just love this photograph taken during my fabulous trip to New York earlier this year and wanted a layout which didn't compete with it.  I decided that the lady would love blue …  but I did use some vintage browns to set them off. Please join me on my blog if you want to see more.

And of course don't forget you have plenty of time to enter our fabulous "blue" challenge. So get out those blue inks, paints, papers and pastes and create in blue!

Thank you for joining me today!

Feeling Blue

Hello! Thank you for popping by today! Gabrielle here with my second 'blue' project.
I love this challenge as it means I can make a simple journal page using some of my favourite things! I love this little chap who is standing on a strip of book text. The background has some of my favourite stencils and the painty marks were heated so they 'blistered' to give a little texture. By the time I had finished this I was feeling anything but blue!!! As always, there's more on how I made this on my blog

There's plenty of time for you to enter this month's challenge - we're loving seeing your fabulous creations!

November #33 - The Colour Blue

Welcome to November where in the northern hemisphere the nights are drawing in fast and the days are getting colder. Gardens and parks are littered with fallen leaves and soon we can expect to wake to frosty mornings and hopefully some fine wintry skies. So often in the winter season the colour blue comes into our craft work and Doreen has chosen this as our new theme.

Let's see what the team have been up to and how they have interpreted -
'The Colour Blue'

*****

Doreen

Hello to you all, I have had the pleasure of picking the challenge this month, everyone knows I am hooked on the colour Blue.
The details for this can be found over on my blog

*****

Rachel

Hello there! Rachel here with my take on Doreen's beautiful Blue theme - I love to see blue on Christmas cards so I'm taking full advantage of that here! Here's my first make:

You can find out about the products I used and how I made it on my blog here.

*****

Monika

To our new challenge I prepared a blue winter tag with one of the very favourite crazy birds by Tim Holtz. Step by step tutorial on my blog.

*****

For my first creation for Doreen's theme I used various of blue toned distress inks and the wrinkle free distress technique to create my background. Do pop over at Addicted to Art  for more details today.

*****

Blue is different for me at different times of the year.  Since Doreen is looking for The Colour Blue in November, my blues have taken on quite a wintry hue.  I also found myself reaching for birds to sit against my blue backgrounds... so this tag gave me the chance to ink up Dina Wakley's Scribbly Birds for the first time.  Come over to Words and Pictures if you'd like to see more details.

Sue 1

As it's now November and turning a little bit chilly, my guys have all got their wooly coats on. More details can be found here on my blog x

*****

For my first "blue" project I have made a simple tag using an array of blue Distress Inks and some recycled bits and pieces from previous projects. Do join me over on my blog if you would like to see more.

Brenda

A wintry canvas from me today which has numerous blue tones in it. I loved using a whole range of dies and punches to create the dimensional snowflakes and various glitters to add sparkle to give that cold winters morning feel to it.

Debs

Wow! how quick is time going? Here we are again with another Challenge chosen for us by the very talented Doreen. I love the colour blue, it's not my favourite colour, but definitely up there.

I'm happy to share this little wall board all the details can be found

We'll be back soon with more inspiration from the design team soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

Gabrielle 2

Gabrielle is back with the last inspirational sample for the month, so where did October go?

********

For my first project I added Grunge Paste to a wooden block so it seemed only right that I decorated the other side! I used the same paints (PaperArtsy's new Limited Edition) and technique but created a whole new look! If you'd like to see how I decorated this please do pop over to my blog and see! Gabrielle x

*******

Mmmm love that muted, grungy look Gabrielle and how lovely that you used the other side of your block. A great piece.

Your last chance now folks to get that final textured piece made and linked to the challenge who knows it could be your number that Random Org chooses as the winner and who wouldn't love to have a £20 voucher for Country View Crafts shop, especially with Christmas fast approaching now.

Have a lovely Halloween weekend and see you Sunday for the new challenge - gosh it will then be November. Must dash to get some Christmas cards made. See you soon.

Brenda 2

Hi Everyone I am back with the next installment of my Christmas baubles project and two more that have lots of texture and festive colour on them.

By the time I got to these two chipboard baubles I was really into the mixed media layers, colours and textures. Using stencils is such a great way to get that added dimension and on my blog I show you two ways to add colour and make that texture look glittery and realistic. I think out of the four these are my favourites and I already have an idea where I will use them when I decorate the house for Christmas.

Are you getting into the preparations, both craft wise and season wise? Is the list written (mine is lol), still a while to go yet but lots to do.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

hugs Brenda and the CVC team xxx

Astrid 2

Welcome everyone to our next textured project and it'd Astrid joining us today with a fabulous mixed media piece.

*****

For my second project I altered a canvas, using texture paste, lots of layers and background stamping.
A full step by step can be found on my blog

*****

Thank you Astrid I want to reach out and touch the wonderful textured areas on your fabulous canvas, it's beautiful.

Well how is your crafty month going, I seem to be jogging along with deadlines and thinking more and more of the busy period ahead - what about you?

Hope you are having a great weekend, see you soon.

hugs Brenda and the CVC team xxxx

Alison 2

Alison joins us with a fabulous autumnal tag today.

****

If you thought my first piece this month was slightly dark in mood... wait til you see this one!  Sorry, autumn just sometimes hits me this way.  But there's plenty of texture to be found on this earthy tag, so I hope you'll be able to hop over to Words and Pictures and see the details - it's not as gloomy as it looks, I promise you!

*****

It doesn't look at all gloomy to me, does it you? I love all the autumn colours and the dark earthy ones are rich and natural and tell me that winter is well on it's way.

Looking at some of the projects that are being entered into the challenge I see a whole variety of colour blends including autumnal and wintry blends. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Be here in another couple of days to see what the next project brings in way of inspiration for the current challenge.

See you then.
