Guest Designer Sue

Hi, I’m Sue, married with two grown up children and three lovely grand-daughters. I have been crafting since I was a teenager and have been a knitter and dressmaker, have done patchwork, embroidery and applique wall hangings among other things. Since 2007 I have made cards, starting with iris folding and going on from there.  I love learning new techniques. About 18 months ago I learnt how to weave yarn flowers from knitting wool and find it really relaxing. For just over a year I have been blogging about this hobby, which has been great fun, but quite demanding, coming up with a new project to make every week.

To me, decorating for Christmas means sparkle and shine, tinsel and baubles, red and gold, so I decorated a simple polystyrene cone to make an over the top Christmas tree. Tinsel yarn is so much fun for weaving flowers.

Wow, Thank You Sue. It's a lovely Christmassy Project and I recommend others having a peek at your blog to see some of your other beautiful creations and how you created this fantastic tree.

____________
The winner of the £20 Country View Crafts voucher, selected by Random Generator from the challenge entries is

Thank you to everyone who entered my November "anything but a card challenge". There were some lovely non card creations and I had a very difficult task choosing my Top 3 and my special mention. I got it down to my top 5 and then finally decided on my top 3 so here goes. These are in order of entry to the challenge.

No 21 Butterfly  who created this gorgeous trio of tags

I loved her backgrounds as much as I did the finished tags. I am a huge fan of distress inks too which Alison so skillfully uses.

No 95 Empire of the cat who created the most beautiful butterfly art journal pages.

I love the contrast of the shimmering butterflies on the kraft and white background. So pretty, lovely work.

I still have a "cute" side to my crafting and this tag made me smile. I have the stamp version of this digi stamp from years ago and it brought back fond crafting memories for me.

I also thought the background was so cool and festive. A lovely tag.

So last but not least is my special mention and this goes to

Cathy upcycled the base for this wonderful project . You need to check out the details on her post and check out the lovely crackle and the interesting way it came about. The extra elements she added were beautiful.

Well done Kathy such a lovely make and the words are most appropriate too.

So that's it from me. Have a wonderful Christmas and thanks again for taking part in my November challenge.

Bye for now,

Jane x

The Christmas hearth

Hello it's Jane here with my 2nd anything Christmas make for our current December challenge. We are lucky enough to live in a house with an open fire in the front room and even if we don't light it I love to decorate the mantlepiece and add Christmas decorations and candles in the hearth. So this inspired today's make.

I used crackling campfire distress ink for the background, it seemed just the right choice. If you would like to see how it was made the fire is burning over on my blog here where I am sharing the details.
Wishing you a very peaceful, merry Christmas, see you again bright and breezy on New Year's Day 2021!
Bye for now,
Jane x

October Winner, Top 3 & DTSM

Hello everybody!  It's time to announce the October Challenge Winner.  There were some really fabulous entries and we always love seeing what you're inspired to make by each theme.  So here is the winner of our Challenge, Top Three & DTSM.  Are you sitting comfortably?  Then let's begin!
___________________________
The winner of the £20 Country View Crafts voucher, selected by Random Generator from the challenge entries is

#14 Sandra

It's Monika here

Hello everyone,

first of all, thank you for joining our October challenge

Halloween (make a scene).

We had fabulous entries and I had a very hard job to choose only four for the TOP 3 and the Special Mention.

But here are the winners:

TOP 3

#15 Rosi

I really like the Katzelkraft images and stamps and I love what Rosi made with them. Beautifully coloured Halloween scene with one of the Les Pablos.

#19 Tracey

I love the eerie Halloween night scene that Tracey made with only three colours, the black white and yellow. Tracey's creation with the brick wall and cathedral window, with her own painting in the background is a masterpiece!

#79 Lisa

Lisa has created an awesome Halloween scene in a Display Dome. She made lit-up candles from paper using Tim Holtz instructions (I haven't even finished Tim's tutorial yet!) So the candles are fantastic, they  look so real! I love her fortune teller black cat with a tiny crystal ball. It's a fantastic Halloween decoration!

And the Special Mention goes to

#51 Anne

I just love everything on Anne's Vignette Box Halloween scene with the Day of the Dead characters. It's just simply gorgeous how she decorated the Vignette Box inside and outside. I love the colours of the characters and how Anne dressed them up. I have to mention the little silk shawl on the lady's shoulder - perfect. Ann also put a light inside which makes the decoration more special.

Fantastic work all around!  Congratulations - your badges will be on their way soon, and we hope you'll display them with pride and don't forget to join us in our November Challenge Anything But A Card. Stay Safe. xx
